The Bilva leaf (Aegle marmelos) holds a paramount place in Shiva worship. Its trifoliate shape represents the three eyes of Shiva, the three Trishula prongs, the three Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas), and the Holy Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara).
Scriptures state that offering even a single Bilva leaf to Lord Shiva with sincere devotion yields the spiritual merit of performing grand Yagnas and wipes away sins accumulated across births.
